Machine Room-Less (MRL) Elevators

Gearless traction lifts with the machine inside the hoistway — up to 60% space saving and 40% lower energy use.

  • No machine room, no terrace structure
  • Up to 40% energy saving
  • Up to 60% space saving
  • Integrated drive and controller cabinet

Overview

Why our mrl range

MRL is our default recommendation for new buildings. Removing the machine room frees the terrace for services or usable area, reduces structural loading, and removes an entire waterproofing and access headache from the build.

The integrated INVT EC160 drive-and-controller unit combines inverter and main controller in a single cabinet that fits beside the top landing door, cutting the wiring footprint substantially.

Typical applications

  • New residential and commercial towers
  • Buildings with height or terrace restrictions
  • Green-rated and energy-efficient projects
  • Retrofit where a machine room cannot be built

Features

What is inside the specification

The engineering decisions that make the difference between a lift that works and a lift that keeps working.

  • Permanent-magnet gearless machine

Compact PMSM machines mount to the guide rails or shaft wall inside the hoistway — no gearbox, no gear oil, no oil changes.

  • Integrated control cabinet

The INVT EC160 combines inverter drive and main controller in one unit, with a multi-line LCD operator panel for status and time-stamped fault logs.

  • Regenerative option

Regenerative drives return braking energy to the building supply — meaningful savings on high-traffic installations.

  • Serviceable from the car top

Maintenance and manual rescue are performed from the car top and the landing control panel, with shaft-position learning simplifying commissioning.

Questions

MRL FAQs

Cannot find your question? Call us — we would rather talk it through than have you guess.

How is rescue handled without a machine room?

Two ways. The ARD automatically drives the car to the nearest floor on power failure and opens the doors; manual brake release and hand-winding are available at the landing control panel for technicians.

Does MRL cost more than a conventional lift?

The equipment can cost slightly more, but the saved machine room — structure, waterproofing, access stair, ventilation — usually makes the total project cost lower.
